Delhi Technological University – A Pillar of Educational Excellence in the Capital

Delhi Technological University, DTU in short, was formerly known as the Delhi College of Engineering and before that, the Delhi Polytechnic. Started in the year, 1941, DTU has a long illustrious history that spans decades. The institute is one of the first higher education technological institutes in the country and was started with an aim of providing trained manpower to supply the demands of a growing India.

Set up in the historic Kashmere Gate campus, today the institute offers several undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate programs. A few of the popular academic clubs in the campus include The Entrepreneurship Development Cell, technical societies like SR-DTU (Society of Robotics, DTU), IEEE (Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) and plenty more.

Some of the innovative non-academic clubs include the Pratibimb (Dramatics Society), the Madhurima (Music Society), Dhoom (Dance and Choreography Society), Kalakriti (Creative Arts Society), Furore (Live Events Society) and more.

DTU also has several laboratories on campus to help students keep themselves updated with the latest developments in the fields of their choice. The TIFAC Core Laboratory that focusses on Fiber Optics and the Bio Diesel Laboratory are two of the premier labs at DTU, not usually found in other campuses.

Apart from integrating Research and Development into the academics, DTU encourages students to explore beyond the curriculum. How often are Workshops Conducted in DTU

Yuvaan

This is the official annual literary fest of DTU. The title of the fest, Yuvaan is derived from the word Yuva which means vigour, spontaneity and boldness in Hindi. The fest aims to capture the quintessential voice of the modern youth of India.

The event attracts literary enthusiasts, famous authors, writers, celebrated poets and thousands of student participants from all over the country. Durjoy Datta, a best-selling Indian author and a DTU alumni graced the event last year. Other famous names who participated in the event include – Sanket Upadhyay, Major General GD Bakshi, Sunetra Chaudhary, Nizami Brothers, Rohit Sardana and more. Talk shows, motivational speeches, debates, poetry slams, elocutions, poets’ ensemble are some of the popular events held during the fest.

Engifest

Engifest is the annual cultural festival conducted at DTU. It’s usually conducted in February every year and is a three-day love event. With over tens of thousands of student participants from across hundreds of colleges, it’s one of the most attended and highly popular student cultural festivals in the country.

Some of the events at the fest include cultural performances, rock shows, socially relevant plays, bike and car shows, drag racing and more. Sunidhi Chauhan, VJ Bani, Vishal Shekhar, Boogie Frantick, are some of the popular celebrities who have graced the stages of Engifest.

What After College Series of Workshops

What After College a leading career guidance portal in association with the Training and Placement cell of DTU conducts a series of workshops and seminars at the university. These workshops are open to students from other colleges and universities. The technical workshops are conducted by eminent professors, entrepreneurs and other industry leaders.

How to Reach DTU Delhi?

The campus is in North-west Delhi at a distance of 32 kms from the Indira Gandhi International airport.

If you’re visiting from other cities:

  • From the New Delhi Railway station – Take the Delhi metro rail to the Kashmiri Gate Metro station. Get down and switch tracks to reach the Rithala metro station.
  • From the Airport – From the airport, take the metro to get to the Rithala station.

From the Rithala station, you can reach the campus via a local auto, bus or taxi. The campus is in Daulatpur/Shahbad, which is 3 to 4 kms away from the Rithala metro station.

If you’re arriving from Delhi:

  • Residents who can reach the Outer Ring Road easily can board a bus to Outer Mudrika and alight at Madhuban Chowk. From here, the local bus No.879 takes you directly to the campus.
  • West Delhi residents can easily take the bus no. 879 to the campus directly.
  • If you’re using the metro, get to the Kashmere Gate Metro station and then to the Rithala metro station. Get down at the Rithala metro station and take a bus, auto or taxi to the campus.
