Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi, (IIIT-D) is a noteworthy autonomous university located in Okhla Industrial Estate, Phase III, in the capital city of Delhi. A self-sustaining State Technical University, IIIT-Delhi is known for its research-oriented programs in Computer Science and allied subjects of Mathematics, Electronics, Design, Social Science and Bioscience. Along with academic programmes in B.Tech, the institute also offers M.Tech and Ph.D. programmes in CSE (Computer Science & Engineering) and ECE (Electronics & Communication Engineering).

The Institute was established in 2008 with its first batch of 60 students in B.Tech programme, functioning out of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) campus, New Delhi. Soon later, the IIIT-Delhi got its own campus and was inaugurated in October 2012 by then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit. Today, the University caters to 1000+ undergraduates, 200+ postgraduates and 100+ doctoral students every year, overseen by more than 70 distinguished academic faculty.

TechEvent 2018 by ECE Labs, IIIT Delhi

The objective of this event isto provide tech enthusiasts across colleges in India a platform to showcase their technical knowledge and present innovation. It is not only a convergence of emerging talent, but a motivational to the high performing students to push boundaries and deliver better. The flagship competition under the TechEvent in ELECTRIVIRE, categorised under two stages: Stage-I is multiple choice questions quiz on very basic questions of Electronics, meant for individual participation. The winners of this category will qualify for Stage-II which would be a Design Competition among groups of 2-3 students. The student body annually holds three college festivals – ‘ESYA’, a two-day technical fest that showcases a plethora of events ranging from coding competitions to overnight hackathons. All these events are renowned nationally across colleges and institutes for their zest and fervour.

WAC Workshops

WAC workshops bring together leading academicians and renowned industry experts under the same roof to give the best-in-class training and career guidance to students. How to reach IIIT-Delhi

Being situated in the National Capital of India adds to the appeal of the institute. IIIT-Delhi is located in the Okhla Industrial Area, Phase III, that houses some of the leading corporates and ministry bodies of the nation. The institute is well-connected with the rest of the country through air, road and rail, and locally through Delhi Metro and public transport.

IIIT-Delhi is 40 minutes away from NDLS Railway Station and can be reached at through taxi or Delhi Mudrika (Bus) Seva. Taxi fares range from over INR 200 to INR 300, while Mudrika is about INR 40, The institute is 1 hour 30 minutes away from T3, Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi and can be reached at through taxi between the price range of INR 450 to INR 550, or via Mudrika in over INR 90. All metro cities have direct connecting flight to New Delhi airport, and all airlines offer the same.

If you arrive by bus, the distance of the institute from Kashemere Gate Bus Stand is about 50 minutes, and from Anand Vihar Bus Terminal is about 1 hour 10 minutes, which can be covered via road or Delhi Metro. The nearest Metro stations to IIIT-Delhi are Govind Puri on Violet Line and Okhla NSIC on Magenta Line. 

Accommodation in Delhi

IIIT-Delhi has provisions of on-campus accommodation for students for a few seminars and workshops. Students are requested to email on ino@iiitd.ac.in or call on 91-11-26907400-7404 to inquire the same. For others, students are required to arrange for their accommodation. Delhi provides reputed hotels and homestays in the vicinity of the Institute and also across the city, catering to all budgets.
