Situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering fondly known as LDCE is one of the most prestigious engineering colleges of the country that imparts higher education and training in various fields of engineering and technology.
Established on 20th June 1948 by Kasturbhai Lalbhai, who named the college after his father Lalbhai Dalpatbhai, L.D College of Engineering was one of the first technical institutes of the country. Initially affiliated to Bombay University, LD College of Engineering came under the direction of Gujarat University after its formation in 1949.
Started its journey with nearly 75 students in its three undergraduate courses, today LDCE offers 14 undergraduate programmes and 12 Postgraduate programmes. Spread over in a sprawling over 70 acres of land, LDCE campus has 14 departments, offices, library and 8 hostels blocks to provide accommodation for 750 students.
With a total strength of 5000 students in a wide variety of disciplines, over 192 faculty members across all the departments and non-teaching staff, LDCE strives to create a stimulating learning environment to nurture outstanding professionals. Started with an aim of imparting premium quality technical education, LD College of Engineering has seen a remarkable growth in its 70 years of journey.
LD College of Engineering: Expanding Education beyond the Classroom
Aiming to become a centre of excellence in technical education, LDCE always motivates students to think innovative and goes beyond the convention. In order to provide students with exposure and great opportunities to enhance their skills, LDCE organizes several conferences, workshops and seminars at the residential campus of the institution.
Besides, regular PG, UG programmes and 4 Part Time Courses, LDCE also offers several short-term programmes and certification courses to enable students to expand their skills for the global competitive market. The institution also conducts GIAN approved courses covering several areas of science and modern technology. The Training and Placement Cell of this institution also takes initiatives to organize several industrial workshops and short-term courses for the students. LDCE also has a dedicated Entrepreneurship Cell to guide and motivate young innovators and entrepreneurs.
This college has a Student Cell to take care of any students or campus-related issues. Representing the students and their views to the upper management, the Student Cell helps students to get their problems solved.

Organized by LD College of Engineering, Lakshya is an Edu-Tech festival held every year at the campus since 2014. Combining technical, non-technical and some other events in an engaging way, this three-day long fest provides a platform for students to show their innovative skills and talent.
Every year a theme is fixed for the fest and the main event is conducted in accordance with the theme. As an important part of this festival, guest talks and workshops are organized to discuss several aspects of the selected theme. How to reach LD College of Engineering?
LDCE is located at the heart of Ahmedabad city opposite Gujarat University. Situated nearly 7 km away from the Ahmedabad Railway Station, LD College of Engineering is well connected by road, air and rail with other major cities of India. From Ahmedabad station, you can easily get an auto or taxi for LDCE and the travel time would be nearly 15-20 minutes.
Well-connected with several major highways, the Ahmedabad central bus stop is at a distance of about 7 km from LDCE campus. Connecting various cities of Gujarat to neighbouring states, GSRTC offers outstation and interstate bus service.
The approximate driving distance between Ahmedabad Airport and LD College of Engineering is 12 km. You can easily get private cab or taxi to reach the college campus. Even GSRTC buses are also available from the airport to the college.
Accommodation at Ahmedabad
