Previously known as Regional Engineering College Tiruchirappalli, this institution was given the status of Deemed University in 2003 and renamed as the National Institute of Technology.

Pragyan

Conducted every year over a period of three and a half days, Pragyan is the international techno-management fest of NIT Trichy. Touted to be the largest techno-management fest in India, Pragyan is the first ever student-run organisation to get the ISO 20121:2012 Certification for Sustainable Event Management.

Providing a platform for students to display their knowledge and technical expertise, Pragyan aims to show the world the next level of science and innovation

With 50 events spanning across 10 clusters and participants from more than 60 countries across the globe, Pragyan attracts a footfall of more than 7,000 students every year. Covering a wide variety of technological and managerial aspects, Pragyan organizes a plethora of events that include workshops, guest lectures, exhibitions, competitions, annual tech summit etc.

Celebrating technology, this event not only gives students an opportunity to prove their mettle in science but also it aims to make innovation accessible to everyone. While online participation is allowed for several competitions or activities, the main Pragyan event will only be conducted at the NIT Trichy campus.

 How to reach NIT Trichy?

Located on the Trichy-Tanjore highway (NH 67), Tiruchirappalli is well- connected by road to Madurai, Chennai and to all other major cities in South India. To get to NITT, board a Tanjore bound bus that halts at NITT from the Central Bus Stand. One can even go to Chatram bus stand, from where regular bus service to NITT is available. Typical travel time would be around 40 minutes from Chartam or CBS bust stand to NITT. You can also take a cab from Trichy railway junction or CBS to NITT, which would cost you around Rs 200-300.

Connecting Chennai, Tirupati, Bangalore, Mangalore and several other important towns of South India, Tiruchirapalli junction is located nearly 22 km away from NITT. From the station, one can either hire a private taxi or take the bus route to get to NITT. Any city bus at Tiruchirapalli Junction will take you to the central bus stand from where you will easily get buses for NITT.             

Located at a distance of 25 km from NIT Trichy, the easiest and convenient way to get to the institution from Trichy Airport is by taxi or private cab.

Accommodation at Trichy

For a few workshops and seminars, participants are provided accommodations in the institute hostel or guest house on payment basis. However, for other events students are asked to arrange their stay by themselves outside the campus. Situated at the heart of the city, NIT Trichy is surrounded by several hotels catering to all budgets and requirements.
