SOCIAL CAUSE

There are a very few colleges fests which work for a social cause and Mood Indigo IIT Bombay is one of those. Mood Indigo works for a social cause every year, for the betterment of the people and the society. The social cause for Mood Indigo 2017 IIT Bombay this year was “Swab to Save Registration Drive”. It was a step taken to encourage people for stem cell donation for seemingly incurable diseases like cancer and leukaemia. ‘Swab to save’ was an initiative to save a life by donating their stem cells. Like blood donation, stem cell donation also requires a match between the donor and the acceptor i.e. a DNA match, however finding a DNA match is a one in a million chance but it is necessary to expand the stem cell donors so that more and more people might find a cure to the deadly diseases.

The ‘Swab to Save Registration Drive’ was dedicated to the stem cells donation registration, and in order to expand the program  over 3000 people participated in this throughout Mumbai and some other cities like Pune, Jaipur, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi as well. Stem cell donation camps were conducted in several colleges of Mumbai and other cities, where swab samples were collected and the concept of stem cells was also introduced to the students.

‘Swab to Save’ was a very thoughtful and noble cause of Mood Indigo 2017 to save lives of people and to spread awareness about Stem Cell Donation, so that everyone can help people in the long-run.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”4698″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
