To appear in the UPSC exam, the aspirant must be a graduate of any university or college. Also, only aspirants who are 21 years of age Limit for upsc exam. However, if you want, you can start preparing for UPSC through self-study from the 12th onwards. But it is mandatory for you to be 21 years old to appear in the exam.

After failing the exam, the student starts preparing for the next attempt. Therefore, the government has also set a time limit for the aspirants who are going to appear in the exam. Which is divided according to different categories. Talking about the general category, candidates can appear in this exam 6 times only aspirants in the age group of 21 to 32 years can sit for the exam. After 32, no one can sit in the general category UPSC Aspirant exam.

Aspirants of the OBC category can appear in the exam 9 times from 21 years to 32 years. Whereas ST/SC category aspirants can sit for the exam till the age of 35. At the same time, there is no limit for the candidates belonging to this category.   

Physically handicapped candidates of General, EWS, and OBC categories can appear in this exam 9 times. The minimum age of the candidates to appear in this exam is 21 years and the maximum age is 32 years. However, there is a relaxation of 5 years for SC and ST community candidates, 3 years for OBC category candidates, and 10 years for physically challenged candidates. Hence the maximum age limit for SC and ST category candidates appearing in this exam is 37 years, for OBC category candidates 35 years, and for physically challenged candidates 42 years.
