BHUBANESWAR: Phase-II admission process for undergraduate courses have been started in the state. Last date for submitting applications is September 13. The state has more than 2.71 lakh UG seats, but around 1.7 lakh seats have been filled up in the first phase.
The higher education department will publish provisional allotment of seats along with waitlisted applicants in higher education institutions’ e-space on September 22. Selected applicants can pay admission fees online through the student academic management system (SAMS) portal between September 22 and September 25.
The applicants will report to the allotted institutions between September 23 and September 26 for taking admission. Then the waiting list admission round will be started. Waitlisted applicants will submit a common application form (CAF) along with relevant documents to take part in this admission round on September 27 and September 28.
The candidates can choose any one of the selected institutions by October 5 and take admission on the very next day at the institute by depositing their admission fees online. The whole process of phase-II admission will be over by October 7, said the official sources.
The higher education department has also issued guidelines for phase -II admission. The candidates, who have not applied in the Phase-I admission process or failed to take admission in that phase, can apply for Phase-II admission. Applicants who are already admitted in Phase-I will not be considered to participate in the Phase-II admission process.
The waitlisted candidates will report at the selected institutions with the required documents according to the timeline. After the timeline, such applicants will not be considered for selection of merit list, said the department guideline.
The state has 2,71,091 seats in 1047 degree colleges. This year, 2.49 lakh students have applied for UG admission. After four rounds in the Phase-I admission process, more than one lakh UG seats remained vacant.
