WAC Workshops

What After College (WAC) is a unique counseling event of Vidyavilla Foundation that curates career-enriching activities for students by converging all stakeholders of higher education like academicians, education experts, and industry pioneers and leaders.
The experts come with decade long experience in career guidance and industry knowledge and aid the students to choose the appropriate career path which is parallel with their personal interests and professional fervour. Felicity’18 and Megathon’18

Felicity is the annual techno-cultural festival of IIIT Hyderabad Workshops.  The festival packs a full year’s worth of work into 3 days. IIIT-H’s Felicity invites a wide range of talent pool by organizing activities that are commensurate with hobbies and skills of students. Brainstorming coding competitions are well balanced by gaming events called “Zombie Zone”.  From technical, cultural and literary events to nights of celebration in the form of music concerts, Felicity is a fun and resourceful bunch of activities.

Another notable event is the country-wide famous Megathon 2018 that has issue-based social themes for which technological answers are found. The event is organized by the entrepreneurial cells of IIITH and IIT-Hyderabad.

IIIT-H is located in one of the most trending areas of Hyderabad-Gachibowli. It is 17 km away from the Nampally Railway Station, 23 km from Secunderabad station, and a 33 km drive from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport of Hyderabad. For the intra-city commute, one can take a cab, auto or APSRTC bus (No: 216 and 217) to reach IIITH. 

For those reaching Hyderabad by bus and getting down at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, it may be noted that they may reach the campus by APSRTC bus 216 or 217.

The costs for intra-city travel via autos would be about Rs. 3 per km, via metered taxi Rs. 15 per km with fixed charge of Rs.40/4 km, and the drive from airport to IIITH would cost around Rs. 400-600 by taxi. One can also choose to take a bus which has scheduled departure timings from the airport for an economical option.

It should be brought to attention for the students coming from Mumbai that some trains stop at Begumpet Railway Station which is 16 km from IIITH. Such people may take bus no. 49M from the station to reach Mehdipatnam and finally another bus (217 or 217) to reach IIITH. Some other trains stop at Lingampalli which is only 7km from IIITH. 

Accommodation at Hyderabad

IIITH provides on-campus facility for accommodation in the case of few workshops and conferences. For the rest, students are expected to manage their stay. Thankfully, Hyderabad in general and Gachibowli and nearby areas in particular have some cost-friendly hostel and cohousing facilities as well as reputed 4 and 5 star hotels. It is advisable for participants and visitors to tally accommodation details with event organizers well in advance.
