History:

The World Veterinary Association established World Veterinary Day in 2001. It started with an international veterinary congress gathering organized by a veterinary college professor named John Gamgee. This was the first international veterinary congress, which took place in Hamburg, Germany, in 1863. The name of the congress was changed to World Veterinary Congress.
