 ‘Vocabulary’

  1. Remorse (noun)

Meaning: deep regret or guilt for a wrong committed. (आत्मा ग्लानि)

Synonyms: contrition, deep regret, repentance

Antonyms: impenitence, remorselessness

Sentence: He seemed to feel no remorse at all.

  1. Indecipherable (adj.)

Meaning: not able to be read or understood. (अस्पष्ट)

Synonyms: hard to read, unreadable, indiscernible

Antonyms: decipherable, readable

Sentence: There was an indecipherable message on the answering machine.

  1. Tooth and Nail (adv.)

Meaning: with all power or resources being used (पूरी ताकत के साथ)

Synonyms: full blast, totally

Sentence: I’ll fight tooth and nail to win the finals

  1. Disenchanted (adj.)

Meaning: disappointed by someone or something previously respected or admired; disillusioned. (निराश)

Synonyms: disappointed, disillusioned, discontented

Antonyms: gratified, pleased, satisfied

Sentence: Many voters have become disenchanted with the government.

Meaning: convey (a property) to a creditor as security on a loan. (गिरवी)

Synonyms: engaging, pledging, trothing

Meaning: a person who is present at an event or incident but does not take part. (दर्शक)

  1. Confuting (verb)

Meaning: prove (a person or an assertion) to be wrong. (झूठा ठहराना)

Synonyms: disprove, show/prove to be false, contradict

Antonyms: proving, validating, verifying

Sentence: Theories which will eventually be confirmed or confuted by experience.
