BHUBANESWAR: ‘Swayam Siddha’, a state-level legal awareness programme on women rights, was conducted at Rama Devi Women’s University here on Monday. It is a joint initiative of ‘Mo College Abhijan’ and the State Commission for Women.
Akash Dasnayak, chairperson of Mo College Abhijan said women can safeguard their family, friends and neighbours if we educate and create awareness among girl students to protect themselves, their rights and the laws that protect their rights. “Several college level programmes will be organized at different districts across the state in the coming days. We are now focussing on arranging such training sessions for young girls,” he added.
Minati Behera, chairperson, State Commission for Women, enlightened girl students on different social problems like child marriage, sexual harassment, cybercrime, minor harassment, the laws and constitutional rights. Among others, vice chancellor of the university Aparajita Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion. A large number of students participated in the training programme.
