NEW DELHI: The common undergraduate entrance exam CUET-UG 2023 has been deferred in Manipur to May 29 in view of the law and order situation. For the rest of the country, the test will be conducted from May 21 to June 2, 2023 and on June 5 and June 6 this year. June 7 and 8 have been kept as buffer days.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the computer based test, is also exploring a temporary centre in Srinagar.
The NTA today released admit cards for candidates who would be taking the test on May 21, 22, 23, and May 24, 2023.
In Manipur, CUET to start from May 29; candidates can still change their centre
In Manipur, the CUET-UG, 2023 will start from May 29 in view of the law and order situation. The NTA has kept the window open for students who want to change their centre.
Those candidates who may have got their admit card for May 21 to 24, 2023 or the City Intimation Slip for CUET (UG) – 2023 to be held between May 25 to 28, 2023 are required to contact NTA on 011 – 40759000 / 011 – 69227700 or e-mail at cuet-ug@nta.ac.in – in case they want to change their centre.
About 3697 candidates had earlier opted to appear for the CUET (UG) – 2023 examination at centres in Manipur. After assessing the law and order situation in consultation with the state administration, the NTA contacted these candidates individually to seek their preferred city for the test.
Some candidates who were not in Manipur or wanted to take the examination in another state/city have been allocated centres in Delhi, Guwahati, etc.
NTA exploring exam centre in Srinagar
In Jammu & Kashmir, the NTA is exploring the possibility of creating a temporary centre in Srinagar so that some of the students who have been allotted centres outside the UT can be moved back to local centres. However, since the number of candidates is large, some of them still will have to take the exam outside J&K.
A total of 87,309 unique candidates have registered for the exam from the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. For the tests scheduled from May 21 to May 24, a total of 18,012 candidates will appear at 12 centers, while for the tests from May 25 to May 28 44,425 candidates will appear at 15 centres.
Some Jharkhand candidates allotted centre in neighbouring state
In Jharkhand, a total of 1,78,630 unique candidates have registered for the CUET-UG 2023. Since there has been a significant increase in the number of candidates, the NTA has been forced to allot centres in a neighbouring state to some of the candidates.
However, the city information slip has been issued much in advance to these students to give them enough time for making travel arrangements.
For the CUET-UG scheduled from May 21 to May 24, 2023 – a total of 52,793 candidates will be appearing at 19 centers, while for the tests between May 25 and May 28, 2023, 77,797 candidates will take the test at 14 centres.
City intimation slips hosted on website
The city intimation slips for the examination scheduled from May 21 to May 28 has been hosted on the website https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/ . 15,79,536 students will be taking these tests in the first 8 days.
A total of 14.99 lakh candidates, who have opted for 64,35,050 test papers, will take the exam at various centres located in 295 cities.
These candidates have applied for 48,779 unique combinations of subjects across 250 Central, state, and other participating universities/ Institutions/Organizations for the academic session 2023-2024.
