: On Tuesday, the Bihar cabinet gave its approval for the recruitment of 69,692 teachers in government schools within the state. Additionally, the cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, sanctioned a 100 percent increase in the monthly honorarium for approximately 30,000 ‘Siksha Sewaks’ and 10,000 ‘Vikas Mitras’ employed in Bihar.
“The cabinet approved the proposal to recruit 69,692 teachers for different classes. The recruitment will be done by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). The process will start once the BPSC completes the ongoing recruitment of 1.70 lakh teachers,” Additional Chief Secretary S Siddharth told reporters.
He further added, “The cabinet also gave approval for 100 percent hike in the monthly honorarium of ‘Siksha Sewaks’ and ‘Vikas Mitras’. Around 9,825 Vikas Mitras working under the SC and ST Welfare Department in the state’s panchayats will now get a monthly honorarium of over Rs 25,000 as against the existing Rs 13,700.”
According to the official, ‘Shiksha Sewaks’ will now receive Rs. 22,000 per month, doubled from the previous of Rs. 11,000, along with an annual increment of 5 percent, following the increase in their honorarium.
The Bihar Public Service Commission is already conducting a recruitment drive for 1.70 lakh candidates for Bihar School Teachers. The Commission conducted the Bihar TRE 2023 for TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher), PGT (Post Graduate Teacher), and Primary Teacher from August 24 to 26, 2023. The TRE 2023 result is likely to be out by mid-October, confirmed BPSC Chairman, Atul Prasad.
