CHANDIGARH: Directorate of Sports and NSS wing of Desh Bhagat University and The Himalayan Foundation celebrated National Sports Day with felicitation of Saanvi Sood, a mountaineer and Guinness Book of World Records holder as the guest of honour.
Dr JK Sharma, Director IEDC and NSS wing welcomed Dr Zora Singh, chancellor, Desh Bhagat University and Dr Tajinder Kaur, pro chancellor as chief guest of the event.
8-year-old Saanvi is a student of the Yadavindra Public School, Mohali. She scaled the Mount Everest base camp along with her father and achieved the tag of youngest Indian girl to hoist Tricolour at base camp of Everest.
Dr Parveen Kumar, director of sports, said that the DBU had organized various sports activities from August 23 to August 29 to make the students aware of fitness and to inculcate the discipline of sports in them for their holistic growth.
