Bhubaneswar: Foundation stone of the Asia Centre for Community Media was laid by the social organization Young India at Konark in Puri district on Friday. Sports and youth affairs minister Tusharkanti Behera attended the function as chief guest and pledged to provide all possible assistance and support from the government for the centre’s development.
This institution will serve as a training centre and host short-term courses, workshops and skill development programmes for media students, community media practitioners, researchers and journalists from Asian countries.
The center will feature modern media education facilities, a digital library, and a cafeteria. “It aims to become a centre of excellence for international and national organizations, universities, media institutions, professional journalists and media representatives from Asian countries,” said Young India president NA Shah Ansari while highlighting the objective and purpose of the centre.
Hundreds of media experts, radio broadcasters, journalists, social workers and educationists participated in the event. The programme was presided over by SA Safique, president of the Community Radio Association of Odisha.
