BHUBANESWAR: The 5-day innovation, design and entrepreneurship boot camp will start from Thursday at IIT Bhubaneswar’s Research and Entrepreneurship Park here. More than 300 participants across various engineering colleges, schools and industry partners will take part in the event.
It will have sessions on design thinking for entrepreneurs, a human-centred approach to opportunity discovery, building sustainable business models and other ideas. Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate it on Thursday through videoconferencing. He will give his inaugural address at the COEP Technological University, Pune. The remaining five host institutes will be connected virtually, said the official sources.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Ministry of Education’s innovation cell (MIC) are organizing boot camps at six locations-Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Bhopal and Pune simultaneously from June 22 to June 26.
IIT Bhubaneswar is hosting the Bhubaneswar boot camp for the innovator students and faculty of higher education institutions. “It is intensive experiential learning on design thinking, product design, ergonomics, business modelling, and enterprise planning followed by mentoring and pitching rounds,” said IIT Bhubaneswar director Shreepad Karmalkar.
The organisers have invited local start-up ecosystem partners and MSMEs to interact and give customized inputs to these students which will enable them to form their own businesses and enterprises to contribute to the country’s economy. They have invited experts for sessions and mentored the students.
“I am very happy and enthusiastic to host young minds on our campus. We expect to incubate good ideas and nurture them to form startups and MSMEs. We also invite all budding entrepreneurs to reach our research park to get support and mentors,” said Karmalkar.
The students will pitch their ideas at the boot camp and mentors will guide them about converting the ideas into startup companies or business firms. They will also get first-hand knowledge about grants and funding opportunities for student startups and international markets.
