KOLKATA: Netaji Subhas Open University revoked the notice issued by the authority instructing employees not to make any statement on social media or press media.
Earlier notice was issued and circulated by the university authority on July 17. Within two days university has withdrawn the notice and a fresh notice was issued on Wednesday from the registrar’s office saying, “The order vide Memo No. Reg/0781dated 14.07.2023 is withdrawn with immediate effect. This has the approval of the competent authority of the University.”
After issuing the notice on July 17, the University teachers’ association opposed it and issued a press statement against such kind of instruction has given by the authority.
Sources said, under this pressure university’s interim vice chancellor Chandan Basu resigned on Tuesday and sent his resignation letter to the Raj Bhaban as he was being appointed by the chancellor C V Ananda Bose in the month of April. TOI tried to get a reaction from him but he did not receive the call.
