application process

Option A – Register online and pay the test fee by Credit Card

You must have a valid credit card with you to avail the online booking facility.

Procedure

  • Log on to www.ieltsidpindia.com
  • Select the option “Register for IELTS”
  • Select your test date and test city (you will see the seat availability status)
  • Complete the on-line application form
  • Pay the test fee by credit card (Master / Visa)
  • Get instant seat booking and acknowledgement

Important 
You MUST courier the following to IDP head office

and also bring the following along with you on the day of the test (both speaking and listening, reading, writing test) 

  • Photocopy of your Passport (first and last page), AND any observation pages. Failing which you will NOT be allowed to sit the test.
  • Once your registration is complete you will see a confirmation on your computer screen (you must print and bring this on the day of the test). A copy of the confirmation will also be sent in hard copy or on the e-mail address provided when you completed the application form.

Option B – Register in Person at IDP branch or Input Node

Procedure 
Walk into any IDP branch/head offices or the nearest Input Node and use any of the following methods to register: 

Method – I

  • Register online using the computer at the office and make payment of test fee by Credit card, get immediate confirmation of your seat (this is identical to online registration)
  • Hand over Photocopy of your Passport (first and last page) AND any observation pages.
  • Hand over the Terms & Conditions document duly signed
  • Take the instant acknowledgement letter confirming your seat in the test.

Method – II 

  • Take an application form and complete the same
  • Sign the terms and conditions sheet attached to the application form.
  • Attach Photocopy of your Passport (first and last page) AND any observation pages
  • Pay the test fee either;
  • by Credit card or Debit card / ATM card, or
  • by Demand Draft (demand draft must be drawn in favour of “IDP EDUCATION INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, Payable at New Delhi”) and should be made from any bank listed in the approved banks list in the Terms & Conditions document
  • by depositing cash in ICICI bank branch via a customized ICICI deposit slip which can be either downloaded from IDP website or taken from IDP branch office or from any input node. The original customer copy of the customized ICICI deposit slip needs to be handed over to IDP branch office or the input node as a payment proof.
  • Request the IDP branch staff or input node to enter your application form in the online registration system immediately and give you the acknowledgement of your booking and a tentative seat reservation, thereby ensuring a seat for yourself. Please note that your confirmation will be subject to the realization of the Bank draft (if you have paid the fee by bank draft)

Option C – Register by Courier and pay test fee by Demand Draft or ICICI deposit/Allahabad deposit slip

Procedure
Download the application form from , https://www.ieltsidpindia.com. Alternately, collect the application form, from the nearest IDP branch office or Input Node.

  • Complete the application form
  • Sign the application form and the Test terms and conditions sheet attached to the form
  • Attach Photocopy of your Passport (first and last page) AND any observation pages
  • Attach the Demand Draft for the test fee (demand draft must be drawn in favour of “IDP EDUCATION INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, Payable at New Delhi” and drawn on any bank listed in the approved banks list in the Terms & Conditions document) or attach the original customer copy of the ICICI deposit slip depositing cash in nearest ICICI bank branch
  • Send the completed application form with all attachments and the test fee to;

The IELTS exam pattern 2019 comprises of four sections, Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The candidates are tested on these four parameters. The International English Language Testing System (IELTS exam) can be given in two formats namely IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training Test. Candidates should check the requirement of the college/university they are applying to and then prepare accordingly. IELTS Academic is accepted by universities worldwide where candidates apply for pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate courses. The IELTS test pattern includes 4 sections which evaluate the candidates’ ability on various parameters.

It is also accepted by professional organizations that ask for English language proficiency scores from the candidates whose native language is not English. Before preparing for the IELTS Exam 2019 should always check for the IELTS test pattern 2019 and then start preparing for the test. On the other hand, IELTS General Training is given by those who are planning to migrate to a major English speaking nation. It can also be given by those who are shifting to a different country for work-related training. IELTS Test Score plays a significant role in the selection criteria. This exam is conducted and administered by the ETS, Educational Testing Service, across the world. This exam is accepted by more than 10,000 educational institutes in more than 150 countries.

IELTS Exam Pattern

IELTS Exam PatternCandidates should keep in mind that Reading, Listening and Writing sections of the exam are tested in one sitting. However, a Speaking section can be tested either on the same day or it can take up to seven days before or after other tests.

IELTS Test Pattern

IELTS Syllabus includes different sections, Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The complete test duration is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

  • Listening: The total length of this section is 30 minutes and it is divided into four parts candidates have to answer different types of 40 questions.
  • Reading: The reading section comprises of three texts of general interest that deals with issues which are suitable for candidates going to pursue post-graduate or undergraduate program. Total time for this section is 30 minutes and it comprises of almost 40 questions.
  • Writing: The duration of this section is 60 minutes and comprises of two questions where candidates are expected to write a short essay of a minimum of 250 words. In addition to this, students are given a data, table, or diagram which the candidates have to explain in their own words.
  • Speaking: The total time of this section varies from 11 to 14 minutes and candidates also have to give a face-to-face interview. With the help of this section, the candidates are checked whether they can communicate effectively in the country where they have applied.

For taking the IELTS Exam, your minimum age should be at least 16 years & you must have a valid passport.

You will be eligible to take the exam if you fall into one of the categories:

  • Planning to study in UK/Australia/Canada/New Zealand/USA
  • Being a medical professional, planning to work or study further in UK/Australia/USA
  • Planning to emigrate to Canada/Australia/New Zealand.

The version of IELTS you need to take will differ based on your purpose of travel/goal:

Computer-delivered IELTS: You can preview your results online within 5-7 days of your computer-delivered IELTS test date, using the “Preview your result” link above.

Paper-based IELTS: You can preview your results online on the 13th day after your paper-based IELTS test date, unless otherwise specified in the information provided by your test centre, using the “Preview your result” link above.

Your scores explained

When previewing your results online, you will see a table with an explanation of your scores, and advice for improvement. This will be available to view online, alongside your results, for 28 days.
