The huge bio-network of the connected technology, which is revolutionizing the world from the previous two decades is named as the Internet of Things. Nowadays, there is an array of objects around us that can collect, send and process data to other servers and apps. The IoT Protocols are such a system that will send data online. However, it will transfer data only when the communication network between the two connected devices are safe. IoT protocols are the things that make such smart devices possible.

1. Bluetooth IoT Protocol

One of the most widely used wireless techs of small-range is Bluetooth. You can easily get Bluetooth apps that give you wearable tech for pairing with the smart devices. The recently introduced Bluetooth protocol among the IoT protocols is the BLE or the best Bluetooth Low-Energy protocol. It will give the range of conventional Bluetooth in combination with lower power consumption supremacy.

You have to remember that BLE is not built for sending large files and will go perfectly with the small amounts of data. This is the reason for Bluetooth leading the internet of things protocols of this era of devices. The newly designed Bluetooth Core Specification 4.2 gives us a single innovative Internet Protocol Support Profile. It permits Bluetooth Smart Sensor to access the internet straight via 6LoAPAN.

2. WiFi

For IoT integration, WiFi is a preferred choice by many electronic engineers. It is because of the infrastructure it has. It has high data transfer rates along with the knowledge to control a large amount of data.

The widespread WiFi standard 802.11 gives you the ability to transfer hundreds of megabits in only a second. The one drawback of this IoT protocol is it can use excessive power for some of the IoT applications. Ist range is approximately 50 m, and along with working on internet protocol standard, it also includes IoT cloud infrastructure access. The frequencies are 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

3. ZigBee

Just like Bluetooth, there is a vast user base on ZigBee. Among the IoT protocols, ZigBee is made more for industries and less for the common people. It operates at a frequency of 2.4GHz. This is good for the industrial sites where data is generally sent over small rates among a house or a building.

ZigBee and the highly famous ZigBee Remote Control are prized as famed IoT Security Protocols for giving secure, low-consumption, scalable solutions also with high node count. The ZigBee 3.0 has adopted the protocol to one standard. It has made it handier.


MQTT IoT is a message protocol and its expansion is Message Queue Telemetry Transport. It was developed in 1999 by Arlen Nipper (Arcom) and Andy Stanford-Clark (IBM.) It is used mostly for monitoring from a desolate area in IoT. The main task that MQTT does is getting data from many electrical and electronic devices.

It also gives info to them about IT communications or infrastructure. A hub-and-spoke architecture is extensively common for MQTT IoT Protocol. It works along with the TCP for giving reliable yet simple streams of data.  

This MQTT protocol is made from three main components and mechanisms: Subscriber, Publisher, and Broker. The task of the publisher is to give data and transmitting the data to the subscriber along with the broker, making the security, a job of the broker. It does this by checking the authorization of the subscribers and the publishers.
