In order to get a better life for tomorrow, as long as we are alive and breathing, we should put efforts to maximize our potential and grow in every aspect. Opposing the popular belief, we all have to make changes in order to improve our quality of life. All you have to do is take small steps consistently and make sure you are climbing up the ladder.
Each of us has had our share of ups and downs. But one thing that brings us comfort is that we always deserve the best. But do we?
Below you’ll find answer to this question and ways to see the measurable result of positive actions.
Decluttering towards a Better Life
There must have been a time when each of us would have read scores of gratifying poems telling us that we deserve the best. But in my opinion, there’s no cause of worry in accepting that sometimes we don’t deserve the best. If we are always enough & deserve the best, when will we give ourselves a chance to get better? We shouldn’t feel like a settler and find what is “best for us” and make us better.
LIFE
It’s a rollercoaster which takes us to extreme measures to “save” or “help” ourselves. It’s only a matter of balance and it is only fair for us to taste both good & bad to fully reveal the better & best.
After various attempts to “fix” myself, I learned that the only thing that stopped me to move further and lead a purposeful and good life was I. I had to adopt new changes in order to grow and realize that I carry a power sun within me. In order to reach a point where I realize who I really am, I had to get over past issues and step into new fields. I had to CHANGE.
CHANGE?
It can be a challenge, which all beings have been exposed to. CHANGE is not just a six letter word, but a powerful and challenging word.
Quoting Barack Obama, “Change will not come if we wait for other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
So, here are the following tools that’d help you to light a spark of change as much as it helped me.
5 WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE
1. EXERCISE AND YOGA
“I knew it”, is the line that popped up in your head after reading this word. But trust me when I say that exercising does work. Start slowly. It’s not that you need to-do a 60 minute workout every day. Start with brisk walk and simple exercises.
Practice it for as long as you want. But remember, to indulge in it. Exercise not only brings on welcome change to your physical appearance but also mental health. The “invisible” benefit of exercise is that it lessens the anxiety and strengthens your brain.
- Exercise encourages your brain to work at optimum capacity.
- Exercise helps the body to tone up and become leaner, which automatically boosts up your body image.
- Exercise soothes your mind and brings inner peace.
To keep every aspect of the body and mind healthy, Yoga is the best natural method. It involves learning shaping your body into certain asanas, and in result provides flexibility to both your mind and body.
I started doing Yoga when I was 17, and it’s been 3 years now, but there’s no stopping. I know due to our busy schedules we hardly get time to sit and relax. But even doing a 15 minute Yoga session a day would bring in positivity. A little meditation is a must to de-stress your mind.
Practicing yoga gives you discipline, brings balance to your life and a sense of peace.
“For breath is life, and if you breathe well, you will live long on earth.” – Sanskrit Proverb
2. CLEAN UP
There’s a clean freak in each of us. The benefits of cleaning up your space, mind and diet is never-ending. Exposing yourself to a clean and peaceful environment makes you calm and composed. Get organized. Realize how important it is to live in a space that is free and clean.
Prepare a list of things that need to be done, everyday. It doesn’t have to be deadlines of work or projects but could be little things like cleaning your room, your workspace, buying a book, writing about your feelings or banking.
It is important to clear up your head. Anything that pops up in your head, should be done right away. Clear your mind and know what you exactly want. Do not surround yourself with people or things that bring in negativity.
When you are clear in your mind, take charge of cutting out processed foods. Having a bite of junk food once or twice, isn’t wrong but to depend on it is.
Add in a green smoothie, salad in your diet and also try out new and healthy recopies when you get a chance.
3. CUT TIES
Anything that isn’t making you better, shouldn’t even make you bad. So, cut ties to relationships and friendships that are no longer serving you.
Once you clear out your mind, you realize what and who you want in your life, and who you are or want to become. All of us have friends and people in our lives that do not have our best interest or drag us down. From the present moment, just stop making plans with them. Quit hanging out with them. If you do not see real potential in your friends or your boyfriend/girlfriend, quit pursuing them out of neediness.
Stop wasting your time that could be better spent on improving your personality. If people do not recognize you and do not motivate you, distance yourself from them and stand up for your worth and respect. Start putting yourself first.
I realized eventually that I am potential & power that strives me to become the best version of me. Make your heart move forward and do not let it take a u-turn on what it feels.
4. SET YOUR INTENTIONS
When framing a new life, intend to do something you normally don’t. You could wake up half an hour early each day, or write out everything that’s in your mind after waking up. At the beginning of the week, use journaling time to set your intentions for the week.
It could be anything that you’d want to change in yourself or new activities that you’d like to start. You should be clear on what you want in life, and these intentions or ideas should be jotted down in a diary. Take up one thing at a time; excel in it and then move on to the next one. To be a determined being, it is important that you know what you want to do with your life.
It doesn’t matter how long you live, but what counts is did you make the most of your one and only life. Live each day fully and bring ideas to fruition.
5. LIVE THE IMAGINATION
Got long-term goals? Got plans or ideas that have sitting in the back of your mind for over a year now? What can be done by you to feel closer to these goals? Want to go travelling? Want to buy limited edition jersey?
For all of this, start making a PLAN! Most of us do not have even a PLA- but today is the high time. Set u savings, plan a date and go on a trip. Earn and buy the jersey you wanted. Do everything which seems impossible but requires only a little effort to get accomplished.
Today’s hard work will pay you tomorrow. Work hard to get your dream job or get work in your dream company. Every little effort counts and every step moves you up the ladder.
Do not stay in something out of fear of change. Change is inevitable and be bold to accept it.
Everyday, take risks and take chances. Step out of your comfort zone and realize that it’s invigorating to feel alive!
“We can’t be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea. Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don’t have something better.”
