Talking about the general category, candidates can appear in this exam 6 times only aspirants in the age group of 21 to 32 years can sit for the exam. After 32, no one can sit in the general category UPSC Aspirant exam.
Aspirants of the OBC category can appear in the exam 9 times from 21 years to 32 years. Whereas ST/SC category aspirants can sit for the exam till the age of 35. At the same time, there is no limit for the candidates belonging to this category.
Physically handicapped candidates of General, EWS, and OBC categories can appear in this exam 9 times. The minimum age of the candidates to appear in this exam is 21 years and the maximum age is 32 years. However, there is a relaxation of 5 years for SC and ST community candidates, 3 years for OBC category candidates, and 10 years for physically challenged candidates. Hence the maximum age limit for SC and ST category candidates appearing in this exam is 37 years, for OBC category candidates 35 years, and for physically challenged candidates 42 years.
