Many Indian students dream of going to the USA to pursue a higher degree. But before you sit for an exam such as IELTS or TOEFL, be clear on what the country has to offer and is it even suits you or not. There are lots of dos and don’ts as well.

If you are dreaming of pursuing higher studies in a foreign country, USA is the country that should be on top of your priority list. The country has a lot to offer to students and the various professional courses are a notch higher than those offered elsewhere. Before you decide to take that step, know about the top universities in USA.

 

  1. Harvard: Established in 1636, Harvard University is the oldest higher learning institution of the country. Its history and culture has made it one of the most prestigious universities of the world. It is situated in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It has eleven academic units and the various campuses under it are spread across Boston. The alumni of the university include eight US presidents, more politicians and some billionaires.

It offers Bachelors and Masters courses in Computers, Humanities, Business, Engineering, Medicine and Science. There is a PhD course in Business.

Candidate must clear the IELTS and TOEFL, depending on the chosen course.

 

  1. Princeton: This university was established in Elizabeth in 1746 and was known as the college of New Jersey back then. In 1756 it moved to the present location but was only named Princeton in 1896. The alumni include two US presidents – James Madison and Woodrow Wilson, Amazon CEO and founder Jeff Bezos, many billionaires, some members of the US Congress maximum Abel prize winners among others.

It offers Bachelors and Masters programs in Computers, Humanities, Business, Engineering and Science. Candidates must clear the TOEFL and the scores depend on the chosen course.

 

  1. Stanford: Another popular university, it was set up in 1891. It is located in the Silicon valley near California. The alumni include founders of brands such as Google, Hewlett-Packard, Nike, Yahoo among others.

It offers Bachelors and Masters degree in Business, Computers, Engineering, Law, Medicine and Science. It also offers PhD in Medicine. GMAT, GRE and TOEFL are accepted according to different subjects and the score varies.
