IIT and JEE are both different terms. But they are connected.
IIT – The full form of IIT is the Indian Institute of Technology. They are one of the most prestigious engineering institutes in the world. Everyone who wants to pursue a career in engineering dreams to get admission to IIT. Why? Because every IITian is awarded professional excellence in life. They get jobs in the bests of companies and can take admitted to the bests of colleges around the world. And to make the dream of getting into IIT a reality, one has to take the JEE.
JEE – The full form of JEE is the Joint Entrance Exam. It is a national-level engineering entrance exam held for getting admission into 23 IITs, 31 National Institutes of Technology, 25 Indian Institutes of Information Technology, and other Government Funded Technical Institutes. Many other institutes around the country take admissions according to the result of JEE. So, JEE acts as the gateway to getting into IIT. It is a very tough and competitive exam. A large number of aspirants take up the exam every year, and only a small part of them can get into the IITs.
JEE exam consists of 2 stages- JEE Main and JEE Advanced.
JEE Main – It is the first stage of JEE. Students are granted admission to NITs, IIITs, and other government-funded technical institutions based on the rank obtain in JEE Main. The top 250,000 students from JEE Main get the chance to appear for the 2nd stage – JEE Advanced.
JEE Advanced – It is the second stage. It is conducted to grant admission to all the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology in the country. Admission is granted based on the rank one scores in the exam. So, the higher the ranker, the higher the chance of getting into an IIT.
