Engineering is a field which offers myriad opportunities to students who are pursuing the field in different sectors. The scope for growth and success is humungous as engineers are needed worldwide to take on projects which are challenging.
If you wish to set your career as an engineer then there are many different scholarships which are available to make the entire process easier for students. The scholarships are divided into two types to meet the different criteria.
Merit Based Scholarships
NEST Scholarship- It is conducted by the NGO SUFI and SEMCI. The scholarship is open for engineering students in the 3
rd and 4
th year. An amount of INR 35,000 is awarded to 10 or more people and the topper of the NEST exam gets INR 75,000.
IET India Scholarship- This scholarship is worth INR 8 Lakhs. The application procedure is very vigorous as applicants have to go through multiple rounds of selection. The scholarship is valid for 2
nd and 3
rd years engineering students.
Google Anita Borg Scholarship – This scholarship is awarded to female postgraduates and undergraduates who are pursuing engineering or any other scientific field. The scholarship is awarded strictly on performance basis of the candidates.
OP Jindal Engineering & Management Scholarship- This is started in 2007 by the Jindal Group of Companies. 100 scholarships are awarded every year to students from 40 engineering & management institutions. The shortlisted students go through an online test and those selected receive INR 80,000.
Merit Cum Means Scholarships
MOMA Scholarship- Offered by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, this scholarship is given to students belonging to the minority communities. More than 20,000 scholarships are given every year to students enrolled in engineering colleges whose family income is below 2.5 lakhs annually.
Central Sector Scholarship for College & University Students- The scholarship is offered by CBSE. Engineering students are paid INR 1000 per month for the 1
st three years and in the 4
th year; a sum of INR 2000 is given. The scholarship can be availed only if the annual income of the family is below INR 6 Lakhs.
LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship – This scholarship is open to students studying engineering in any government or private institution provided the annual family income does not exceed INR 1 Lakh. Selected students receive an amount of INR 10,000 annually.
